`Maiden with Butterflies`
An extremely interesting and unusual painting depicting a girl surrounded by butterflies in a wooded landscape with snow capped mountains in the background. Could be Europe or America. Always been a bit of a mystery this one - signed with monogramme lower right in a cartouche. Hard to date, I imagine probably 1920`s though could be earlier. Unusual technique which I think is pastel/crayon over indian ink, could be an illustration perhaps. Very fine and precise work - an amazing image. I don`t think this is an English work, may be European. Antique frame is most likely European, 19th century, and is made of oak. Would warrant further research. Looks stunning on the wall and very mysterious.
