`Barton Broad, Norfolk`
George Trevor c.1920
A very large and colourful watercolour by George Trevor depicting a hot and sunny day on Barton Broad. An unusual subject and size for this artist who is mostly known for his paintings of Devon and Cornwall. However the panoramic format and large dimensions perfectly capture the feeling of the Broads on a sunny afternoon. The natural oak frame is the original and suits the painting well, new ivory coloured mount.
George Trevor (fl.1920-40) along with other artists such as H.W.Hicks and W.Sands appears to have painted with a view to the tourist market. However these artists are now being appreciated in their own right as the best of their output is of a high standard, and values are rising considerably.
