`Running Before the Wind`

A fine maritime watercolour depicting a square rigger running before the wind on a choppy sea. Nicely painted with the sun glinting off the sails and rigging. Maritime artist H .Foster is a bit of a mystery - the work is of high quality but information is hard to come by. I have only been able to find one other example painted in 1919 and valued by Sothebys at £800-1200. It would appear that Foster was painting in the early years of the 20th century. The painting is housed in an excellent ornate gilt frame and is glazed and ready to hang. Excellent condition with no foxing or fading.
