`Near Dawlish, Devon`
Henry Cooper (fl.1910-1935)
Lovely Art Deco seascape by Henry Cooper , who was a painter of coastal scenes and landscapes , usually in oil. He painted many Devon scenes , as well as highland landscapes and views of South East England in the first quarter of the 20th Century. His work is popular and regularly appears at auction where it achieves good prices. This is a typical sunny scene with the fishing fleet in the background and gulls wheeling overhead. Frame is a very nice 1920`s-1930`s style which suits the painting well and appears to be the original. Colours are good and bright - I think the painting has been cleaned fairly recently. A good size at 27 x 19 inches overall which will look nice anywhere, and I think a good investment for the future.
