Stan Fryer (b.1906 - ?)
`Country Walk` 1976
A vibrant expressionist oil by Manchester artist Stan fryer depicting a young woman and small child walking on a country lane.On the right you can see a figure in the field, probably the father who has gone on ahead - fed up of toddler speed! Fryer lived in East Didsbury, Manchester, an area I know quite well -the painting reminds me of the parkland around Dunham Massey, which is close by - but that`s just a guess! An extremely cheerful and positive painting which will brighten any room. Painting is housed in a heavy green and bronze coloured wood frame with broad slip, which has been colour keyed to the painting. Looks spectacular!
Stan Fryer was a painter and draughtsman who was born and lived in Manchester. He studied at the local Art School, and in Italy and Africa. He enjoyed a considerable amount of success as a commercial illustrator. Fryer exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, the Royal Cambrian Academy, United Society of Artists and widely in the provinces.
